Round II Complete

School bus

I know, it doesn’t look like a school bus. This is the parking lot of the Gauting campus where there is a complex of three large schools. At one o’clock when school is out, most bus lines are routed to stop here. I was there at one and it seemed many of the kids were riding their bikes. You don’t see it in the picture but it was mayhem: hundreds of kids, riding three, four or five abreast, laughing, talking, checking their phones, all so happy that school was out. I just stood still and waited for things to calm down.

Tire swings

I rode all the way to Munich’s Westpark to take a picture of the tire swings. I noticed them last week when I was looking for discarded tires, otherwise I probably never would have noticed them or remembered having seen them.

I’m still looking for a reel lawnmower.

I'm a US born ex-pat, having lived most of my adult life in Munich, Germany. Cycling and photography are my favorite things.

    Very well done!
The bus may not ‘look’ like a typical school bus, but it is functioning as one — and the tire swings are pretty cool too — took some effort for that photo!

Round 3 will be posted tomorrow

In regard to the school bus: I think you could have translated the German words on the side of the bus as “Gauting Public School District Bus System” and none of us would have known any better. And your description of the kids riding their bikes “three four or five abreast, laughing, talking . . .” almost brought a nostalgic tear to my eye. I hope they never lose that enthusiasm.

Awesome Suzanne! I love the mental picture of all those school kids riding their bikes also.
