Sacramento, capital of the Independent Republic of California

Last year I rode from Winters to Davis, but I haven’t bicycled in Sacramento since Jeff and I pedaled the American River Parkway in 2015, and I’ve never biked the stretch from Davis to Sacramento, including the path on the Interstate 80 causeway. Just for the heck of it, I decided to fill in that Davis-Sacramento gap today.

Wow Bill this is way more interesting than I thought it would be. Loved the tree sculpture! And the pyramid building. Thanks for such an interesting report.
Sacramento wants to be as interesting and inviting as the Seaside-Monterey-Carmel area. At this point I’m not sure they have quite achieved that goal. 😉
More years ago than I care to count, I went to summer classes at UC Davis. Already a cyclist-friendly city then. It made a nice change from summer school at CSU Chico, where I graduated.
On a return visit a few years ago, I passed through Sacto on my drive from SF to Chico. I stopped at Sacto to ride the American River Bike Trail from Discovery Park to Folsom Lake.
Your photographs bring back fond memories. Sacramento was the closest “big” city to Chico in those days.
