Hi everyone. Its been a while since I posted here, but not because I haven’t been reading all the great things others have put up, but because I’ve been busy, and yes, lazy, too if that makes any sense. This month’s challenge struck me as something I should do, so here are a couple of signs you won’t find elsewhere. The first was taken along the Route des Grands Crus, the road that winds through the vineyards where I live. The Clos de la Roche is one of those Grands Crus. Call me a wine snob, but the pinot noir from these vineyards is second to none.
This shot shows a sign you won’t see anywhere else. “Grappillage” is the practice of going through the vines clandestinely taking bunches here and there to make one’s own wine. As you might imagine, the growers take a very dim view of this practice, especially as the wine now commands a very high price. The town council passed a law against it and now there is a sign put up every harvest season to announce the fact.
The day after these shots were taken, I went for a ride with my neighborhood pals and I’ve posted that here: https://cutandroll.blogspot.com/
