Some reds for the holidays

We’ve been holed up in San Diego for the past ten nights, waiting out the foul weather and staying close to restaurants that would be open over Christmas.  We’ve managed to fit in a few good rides and walks though, and collected a few reds along the way.

The featured photo is at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, with the gravestones adorned with potted poinsettias for the holidays.

An unknown shrub, Balboa Park
Black-chinned Hummingbird, Balboa Park. Same bird, same perch, different lighting.
A happy hydra, San Diego’s waterfront
Some red tomatoes, Little Italy
Leaving San Diego, in the hallway of our hotel in Little Italy
Pannikin Coffee & Tea, Encinitas
A male Redhead, Mission Bay

This is just a placeholder for now. I’ll add a real description when I get more time.

Those are some striking reds in the photos. I love how the different angle gives completely different colours on the bird. The pic in the hotel reminds me of a Maxfield Parrish painting. Safe travels!

That hummingbird was amazing, alright. It was almost shocking when he turned his head toward me and exposed his true colors. And Maxwell Parrish is exactly right. I couldn’t quite place what it reminded me of, but that’s it.

San Diego looks like a great place to be holled up, reminds me a bit of Perth with it’s climate and beaches. I enjoy following your journal and the videos.
