Stump, Mural, Rust and Bicycle Related Stuff

These stumps are older ones, not from the recent storm. We have stumps all over the place. I don’t know how many I’ve posted by now. I found these yesterday on a lovely ride on roads we haven’t done before, and it was 15°C! We were riding on pavement, though, not on that path through the woods.

Now for the real challenge – copycatting!

Rusty art for you, Scott! “Neulandfinder” by Ulrich Schweiger

For you, Lednar! I posted this image for the SiS theme, but now it’s for the mural theme (thanks to Nancy who pointed that out to me!)
Not sure I can call this a mural. It’s traditional Bavarian house painting called lüftlmalerei. Here St. George, slaying the dragon, is called upon to protect the house from harm. The only example of lüftlmalerei that I found in Gauting.
A close up of St. George
Bicycle related picture for Rich. Saw this nice tandem, it seems it’s for sale, as well as the other two bikes on the truck.
Bicycle related, another one for you, Rich. Local elections are coming up and Sebastian, the organizer of our bike club rides, is running for city council. He’s got my vote! Text on the poster: “Is Gauting bicycle friendly” “Test ride on Saturday…”

I think that kind of wraps it up for the challenge of the month. It certainly was an active and fun month with all the amazing entries by you amazing people!

Phew, just one post next month.

I'm a US born ex-pat, having lived most of my adult life in Munich, Germany. Cycling and photography are my favorite things.

Good showing for ALL the categories. Now there is a new one from Laura: Just Get on the Bike! Let’s go.

I wish cycling was a big issue in the council elections here, you guys are way ahead in attitudes towards cycling.

What a lovely ride and you successfully copycatted your way through a few themes. You get applause from Hopkins and I. We still have at least one ride to do before the end of the month, but I think we’ll be able to squeak it in! Yippee!! Cheers & happy pedaling.

Good work! You got them all. That tandem is really neat!

    Hope Sebastion wins!!

You’ve gone over and beyond in your finds and posts. Bravo!! Must say in all the election stuff we hear (usually for all four years before a presidential election), one thing I’ve not heard mentioned at all is bicycling. Maybe by now I’ve just tuned most of them out. We have quite a few bike lanes and bike paths by now. Problem is the one closest to me goes no place that one could shop. It’s a lovely ride through four parks. Thank goodness I have a nice bike rack on my car because when I say riding around the neighborhood, I mean streets that just have houses and that will get boring very fast.

Those are some nice big stumps. I tried very hard to find ‘cricket stumps’ for your challenge, but alas, they don’t leave them out on the oval when they aren’t using them for a game. I, too, would love to be able to vote for someone wearing a cycling helmet on their campaign poster. The Prime Minister of NZ routinely rides to work though – our Prime Minister could use her tutorship in just about everything!
