We always tell everyone our best time of the year is September/October. It came exactly on September 1st this year and so far it’s been great. The fog is either non existent or it is definitely blown out by noon. Just in time to enjoy a nice ride in the sun.
This yard in Pacific Grove offered me a chance to use my photo line skills. I even got the bike in!!
Today we headed north to Ft Ord. Got in a hilly 18mi work out with 1030 feet of elevation. We’re thinking of doing DK25 or DK50 in May. That’s the Dirty Kanza. All gravel they have 25,50,100,200 and 300 mile races. It’s a lottery so we shall see….we can find a few places in Ft Ord that let us practice on gravel a bit.
Our “field office’s” are little less private out there. But I was checking out the Single Track Line – for the challenge you know.
This is the DOD building at Ft. Ord. Who knows what they do there! Made a nice back drop for Jack as he climbed the hill.
Up the road a little ways there was this line of barbed wire…there are still areas where they have not cleared out all the left over munitions- Stay Out!!
This old watch tower is one of the last ones – all the rest have fallen down.
Before you know it we are on Seaside’s version of “The Road To No Where”. This was built several years ago and was supposed to link the area where they were going to put the now defunct Horse Race Track….so it has never been opened. Great for walkers and bikers alike. Noice all the power lines in a ‘line’.
Spotted these great pumpkins all in a line. Quite a front yard garden. And I’m sure it is only sand as it’s Seaside – which was basically beach dunes prior to building homes.
This line of brand new Chevy Trucks have gone unwashed for two months!! The owner just closed the door and walked away about two months ago. So much for booming economy? I think of the movie Fargo every time we ride by…how deep was this guys money issues?!
Well by the time we pass the Chevy dealer we are just about home. See you next time.
Jack with his most recent road Swag!
Feature photo: a guy from Brazil I met on my ride the other day….he has been up to Alaska and is now headed back down to the bottom of Argentina…..I ask him if I could follow along! Nice guy – on the road 2.5yrs.
