Summer Solstice ride into the city

Sorry Rich, but I couldn’t find a east-west road but I did discover that our new footbridge lines up with the suns furtherest point south at sunset. Of course I am one day ahead of the solstice but I don’t think it would make much difference.

I live in the hills just east of the city of Perth, Western Australia and I've loved cycling all my life, From riding to primary school when I was 8 years old to cycle touring as a grumpy old man. Cycling is freedom on two wheels and I love getting on my bike at any opportunity.

Great photo of the sunset through the bridge! The sun has been at the Tropic if Capricorn for several days now, so a day or two, or three makes no difference at all.
The full moon and Ursids meteor shower round out the celestial events — now all we need is for a craft to come back and rescue the extraterrestrial from the hairdressers shop! 😉
    The hand stander sorta looks like someone we should know . . . . . . . .
Perth really goes all out with the lights — thanks for the tour!
    Enjoy your Staycation.

Oooops! Ursids are visible in the Northern Hemisphere only. 🙁

I did wonder if that handstanding guy was Greg Blood and he’d become a travelling, performance busker but alas it was a statue. Meteor shower is going to miss us…phew…I can take off my bike helmet now

Thanks… I try and do my best with what I’ve got. Maybe we could buy the Golden Gate Bridge and rebuild it in Perth , like that guy who bought London Bridge and rebuilt it in Arizona, would make a great photo

THat is a great shot! Here in Conil the sun is setting over the Atlantic Ocean – no bridge. But then I don’t have a bicycle here either.

No Bicycle, I wouldn’t survive, maybe you can hire them or does everything close up for winter?

      • By: Suzanne Posted: December 23, 2018

Fortunately everything doesn’t close up for the winter. Conil is a lively little town in its own righ, even when the tourists are at a minimum. I could hire a bike but I don’t like the roads here for cycling. Much more to experience walking.

You’ll be getting moss growing on you soon. Still Seattle has the 2 richest men in the world living there, and they could afford to live anywhere. I’ve been there twice but the most I know about Seattle
I’ve learnt from the show “Frasier’

Great photo and a great way to celebrate the solstice! Happy holidays and have a great new year! Going to be stinking hot here, hope it’s a bit more moderate for you over there.
