Take Me Out to the Ball Game

After three days at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument and a loop around Tucson, I drove up to Phoenix in order to pick up my ace support crew at the airport. She didn’t want to spend her life wandering around the desert in the Forester with Old Grumble-Face, the Ogre, and a bag of dirty bicycling clothes—I can’t imagine why not—but she wanted to escape the Sonoma County flood zone and enjoy the warm, dry weather of spring training baseball in Scottsdale.

They call me Old Grumble-Face. I have no idea why they do that....

    Hello Bill,

I thought I saw you when I was listening to the Giant v Dodgers game on the MLB At Bat app on my phone. I like the Giants broadcasters, so I listen to Giants games. Also, they play on the west coast alot and I listen to while in bed.

Yep, Gregg, that was me. I’m often told that with my grumbly appearance I look absolutely perfect on radio broadcasts. πŸ˜‰

Spring training must be an interesting time to see one’s team. It looks like you get plenty of elbow room. Good luck to the Giants. I’m pretty sure the Twins, with their new manager, are World Series-bound.

Spring training is always fun, not to mention warm. Lots of fans arrive from cold, wet places to enjoy the scene. It’s kind of like college spring break at the beach for retirees. Giants and Cubs reputedly always draw the most fans to the Phoenix area. Giants games are almost always sold out, as was this one. The pic was snapped quite awhile before first pitch. All the seats around me filled in with Dodgers fans who seemed entirely too smug about LA’s victory. πŸ™

It certainly does look like it was a nice day for a ball game. I never got into baseball, but I can say it is INFINITELY more exciting than cricket πŸ™‚
