Tasmanian Coffeeneuring Week 1 – Empire Hotel, Deloraine

Friday the 12th October – Starting the Coffeeneuring season.

The PoWs (People on Wheels) rode River Road as normal on a Friday morning.  We rode past plantation forests where trees were being cut down, their bark taken off and they were then i chopped into lengths to fit on the log truck.  One bloke and one piece of machinery does all that.

The “turn around point” was reached and it seemed that all the birds previously in the plantation have moved to the remaining bit of forest nearby.  They entertained us with their various calls (song birds) and squarks (Black Cockatoos).  As per normal – someone then said “Coffee”, we all saddled up and headed back to The Empire hotel in Deloraine for a shot.

On arrival I picked up 5 glasses for water and 4 made it safely to the table.  The 5th – well you can see where that went.

It took a while to sweep up.  Just how many pieces can a small glass turn into?

I have decided to take coffee in seven Cafes I haven’t reported from in previous years.  Where will it be next week?

I saw your photo on the Upload page and wondered why Tony would be sweeping a table — now we know!
I am totally capable of that sort of thing too.
    Happy Coffeeneuring!

Ha! Well begun is well started, as they say. You win the best coffeeneuring start ever.

That was a smashing start. I had the same idea to do 7 new cafes too, they’ll be different to yours though.

Scherben bringen Glück as they say here – Shards bring good fortune! So off to a good start, as well as the first one out.
