The ‘Kid’ does his first post.

Sam Pilgrim

Hi cycle touring people, I’m Joshua and I like downhill mountain biking and my favourite mountain biker is Sam Pilgrim, he does slopestyle, gravity enduro, Audi nine’s and many other famous MTB events. As much as I like Tom Cardy, Blake Samson and Matt jones, Sam is lit and has got to be my favourite. My ‘Dad’ has forced me to write this ‘Blog’ thing and try it out, and I like how he said its my first post, even though its probably going to be my last as well 🙂 , anyway in this ‘blog’ thing I will be discussing my holiday,  sorry, I mean absolute horrific workout.

The crew and I woke up at about 5:30 which is actually a really early start for me (I love my sleep) and we hit the road we took the 7:30 Rottnest express over to Rotto, once we got their our friends invited us for breakfast in their cabin, after a delicious breakfast we were ready to set off, we first went to Little Salmon Bay where we snorkelled, my friend and I went way out, where my dad was too chicken to go how far out we were. After that refreshing swim, I made a very bad mistake, I offered to use my friends crap hire bike with two gears, which is also towing a trailer with 10kg of storage in it to ride around the whole island. after about an hour of torture at the finest we reached west end were I had a $5 Coles brand Icypole which normally would cost $2 for a packet, after that rip-off we left. About 5 minutes after we left West End. My friend and my dad left me behind to die of heat-stroke pedalling a crap bike with no gears and a 10 kg trailer, after about an hour dad remembered he had a son and stopped, back as a convoy we went to a café, were I got my quokka selfie and an ice cold Fanta, not far down the road was The Basin so we stopped and had a swim, after that we relaxed on the beachside where we had a Simmo’s ice-cream and I practiced my wheelies, 30 minutes later our adventure at Rottnest came to a close and we took the ferry home (very, very rough).

Bye cyclelife dudes

I live in the hills just east of the city of Perth, Western Australia and I've loved cycling all my life, From riding to primary school when I was 8 years old to cycle touring as a grumpy old man. Cycling is freedom on two wheels and I love getting on my bike at any opportunity.

Dude, I agree that was a pretty dirty trick by your dad and your friend when they left you behind on that crap bike. But don’t be too hard on him for making you write a post on his blog. My dad was a great dad, but he never made me do such a thing, and look what I turned into: a goofy, smart-ass cycle blogger who never grew up. Although, I must say, that even though he didn’t provide me with the blogging guidance I needed as a youth, at least he never left me for dead on a remote island trail.

My favorite mountain bikers are Emily “Nerdy Chick” Sharp, Janet “Rockin’ Girl” Beatty, and Bill “Old Grumblefaced Ogre” Stone, all of whom have new off-road bikes and are making me jealous. And they’re also rad and chill and lit and all that stuff. I’m pretty sure they could ride a course like the one on that video as sweetly as Mr. Pilgrim and his friends.

Anyway, thank you for your story and remember to thank your dad for making you write it.

‘Cool’ said Josh. Maybe Gregblood could do a 360, suicide no-hander, bar spin, back flip. That would be radical.

Good to see you post Josh — sounds like a good time despite the trailer incident.

The video is pretty unbelievable for an old guy who manages 8 mph on a flat road. 🙂

Have you seen the Video Bill posted on his site? Pretty cool — literally!

Josh enjoyed the video, alas glaciers are non-existent around here. A nice soft landing in the snow is nice.

I’d just like to say that I did swim out far beyond my depth but not to the outer reefs and we did wait for Josh for about 10 minutes (where I did have a Church of the Great Outdoors ceremony behind the bushes) not 1 hour as stated in this libellous post.
    Lednar the magnificent.

Josh, I’m so clumsy that I trip over lines painted on the gym floor, so I’ll leave the trick riding to you, because you seem to have the right talents for it. I look forward to seeing you in the Olympics.

His mum won’t be encouraging him to do those jumps, that’s for sure.

Hi Josh, the German grandma who rides an ebike (me) is very impressed by your round on a crap bike towing a heavy trailer! Needless to say I am more than impressed by wheelies, I can’t even do look-ma-no-hands.

Hi Suzanne, I wonder if German Grandmas are called ‘Oma s’ or is that just a dutch thing? He’s over the blogging now, maybe it’s a thing you get into as you grow older and a little more reflective in life.
