The Old Eviprou Bridge

So let’s see if we’ve got everything right this time.  Distinctive bridge, check.  Month of May, check.  Bicycle on the scene, check.  All systems go.

Built in 1956, the Old Eviprou Bridge in Chalkida (Chalcis) isn’t all that old, but it’s older than the new bridge, and is built as the newest of a succession of six bridges at this location that dates back to 411 BC.  The bridge spans the Strait of Euripus at its narrowest point, connecting the Greek mainland to the long island of Evia (Euboea).
