The Prairie Is In Bloom Like Never Before

The headline and the featured photo say it all:  Never before in the history of Minnesota prairies has the landscape been so alive with color as it is today at Dakota County’s Spring Lake Park.  At least I’VE never seen it in such beautiful bloom before, and I come from a school of thought that says “If I didn’t see it, it never happened.”   Of course, I’m willing to be proven wrong–that is, IF you can post prairie pictures that are even more colorful and are not photo-shopped or enhanced in any way and are certified by a notary public as being authentic and true.

Today’s ride was going to be just another unpublished bike ride until I saw all that green, lavender, purple, yellow and scarlet.  I felt I should share that beauty with my Cycle365 friends.

My bike meditates alongside the pretty prairie.

Greg meditates in the field of flowers. He chants. He has visions of pure purple peace and pleasure on the prairie.

You know that last picture of me meditating?  Well, the meditation wasn’t certified as honest and true by a notary public because I’ve never actually meditated before.  It was just me PRETENDING to meditate.  However, while sitting there waiting for the timer on my phone to snap the picture, I enjoyed that ten seconds so much that I think I might start meditating in the future.

Since I decided to share some pictures from my ride anyway, I figured I should try to find some lines for the September Challenge.

This picture has a plethora of lines.

Here is a line of yellow lines.

I look forward to the October challenge.  See you then.

Hi. My name is Greg and I ride my bike a lot. That is to say, I ride my bike almost every day. I go on long rides and short rides. Sunny rides, cloudy rides, and rainy rides. I like commuting, errand-running, day-tripping, overnighting, and touring on my bike. I ride on city streets, highways, gravel, single track, and snow with equal enthusiasm. Sometimes I ride fast and sometimes I ride slow. I try to keep my feet on the pedals at stop lights and I do not dismount when I hop up on a curb. I have a roadie bike, a mountain bike and a touring bike. I try to accept any challenge a bike ride can throw at me without complaint. But I don't like bugs.

Beautiful prairie photos — the best I could do was the prairie at Kennekuk Park, no where near as colorful as Spring Lake Park.
And lines in the bedrock outcrop — cool!

As I live in the wildflower state and it’s spring I’m going to try to beat that colour, it’ll be difficult.

I look forward to the October challenge too, Greg. Thanks for the reminder – I’ll have to meditate a bit myself.

Those are some definitely some beautiful prairie flower pics. It sounded like there was plenty of flooding along the Missouri this year with lots of rain – so I guess you got some of that, too! I’m looking forward to reading you summer tour journal on cycleblaze – I’ve just been too busy and not enough energy to get everything done I’d like to do lately.
