Traveling Cyclists in Cambodia

We left busy Bangkok and are now in Siem Reap for a visit to the awesome temples of Angkor. Siem Reap is much smaller but also loud with its share of air pollution.

I’ll post a few photos here, some more on my BLOG. For technical reasons, my mobile phone pics are here, and only camera images are on the blog.

No durian!
This is the way we are getting about – on a motorcycle tuktuk in the midst of traffic, cool and breezy.
This shot is just to say we saw two young westerners pedaling rental bikes – I couldn’t get a better shot while passing – and I felt a bit wistful, but didn’t really envy them at all.
No helmets, different head protection needed here. It’s 33°C.

That was it for now – not many bicycles here at all but I did find a red one for you.

I'm a US born ex-pat, having lived most of my adult life in Munich, Germany. Cycling and photography are my favorite things.

Cool hat Suzanne ;’-). I will of course, be looking at your blog, but right now — I need to prepare for a bike ride as rain, rain, and more rain is on its way to us. Thanks for your posts, I love seeing some of what you are seeing.

Interesting photos — the red bicycle especially — looks like a drum brake on the rear wheel?

The durian ban I understand, the best I can find on mangosteem is that it stains fingers peeling it and hotels dont want the stains on stuff in the room — ??

    Right now I’d take 33C 🙂

    Looks like a great trip!

My guess is the same as yours concerning the mangosteen. No idea what kind of brake is on that bike.

Great red bike photo! I guess they give a durian charge on your room if you eat one in there… like they do over here with the cleaning charge if you smoke in a non-smoking room. Pretty funny, but no, you would definitely not want to be in a room after it had had durian in it!
