Vinouring 2018: Valpolicella in Varenna

Being on tour, I’m a bit constrained in how to approach Coffeeneuring this fall.  In the past I’ve taken solo day rides to beverage outlets about town, but that doesn’t really work that well when we’re on tour.  I don’t really want to take off on my own that often, as it cramps how we would normally spend our days.

So, I’m improvising with an approach that works well for us, and hopefully fits the Coffeeneuring spirit: seven rides, seven varieties of wine, in seven Mediterranean venues.

I’m hopeful that the Goddess will be less of a stickler for rules than Grumbleface, but we’ll see.

Today’s submission: Valopolicella in Varenna, after a circuit of Northern Lake Como.

This is just a placeholder for now. I’ll add a real description when I get more time.

OK, you really have me mourning the loss of being able go on extended cycle trips. Don’t remember the place you’ve written about, but we did enjoy Lake Como by rental car after one bike tour. Wine instead of coffee sounds like a winner to me!

I think the wine will work well too. Much better than figuring out how to ditch Rachael for an hour so I can go off to a coffee shop and blog about it.

I’m sympathetic that you can’t manage an extended tour any more. I don’t know what I’ll do with myself once I’m done with all this. I’ll be 72 before our current tour ends, and I feel a bit like I’m living on borrowed time myself. Each tour we get in any more feels like a real gift.

Thanks, Rick. Nice to know you’re along for the ride. And it’s great to have you here also. I lived in Indiana for a season years ago, and your posts remind me of that time.
