Weather Report: November 19 … 26

I have gotten behind with the weather report. The weather hasn’t kept me off my bike although many rides have been shorter ones and I did miss a few days. Here are my photos, my motivation for going out when the weather would otherwise discourage me.

November 19

A late afternoon ride, one of the few days when we saw some blue sky

November 20

I rode to visit the Kunstbarracke, an old building housing some artists studios, where some friends were exhibiting their work. The outside of the building lent itself to another selfie.

We chose this Sunday to celebrate Thanksgiving as the Thursday isn’t a holiday here. It was a wonderful feast with 16 family members at the table. Sons and their wives and most grandchildren were there (all vaccinated and with a fresh quick test). However, preparing turkey for the gang didn’t leave time for a ride. It was one of the few days in the month so far that was a bit milder with a blue sky. I am posting a picture from another day.

To grandmother’s house we go…

November 22

A garage picture: It’s raining, should I get my bicycle out?
Rode to the glass containers – had some wine bottles from yesterday to dispose of .
After all that turkey and other Thanksgiving goodies the day before, a ride felt so good.

November 23

On my way to tai chi I braved 1C/34F and stopped on my way home at this pretty gate. Unfortunately, the park and little castle on the grounds are not open to the public.

November 24

Don’t be deceived by all that green! It was -2C/28F and definitely outside my comfort zone, and Janos’s as well. I have tried different kinds of gloves and mittens and gloves-mittens combinations, but nothing has worked so far. My hands get painfully cold.

November 25

Another below freezing ride and another attempt to solve the cold hands problem. I didn’t stay out long. Nice fungi, though.
Via Julia is the modern name for the Roman military road between Günzburg via Augsburg (and Gauting) to Salzburg. The Via Julia Cycle Path follows the old Roman road and is over 312 kilometers long.

November 26

Another garage shot: our first snow of the winter, do I want to ride? Not really, but I want a few pictures.
Just down the road
It’s about -1/30F, and after this shot I turned around and rode home.

Not many days left in November and according to the weather report, our weather will continue to hover around the freezing point with promises of snow. The good thing about the below freezing weather is that it makes me appreciate the days when it’s 3C/37F!

I'm a US born ex-pat, having lived most of my adult life in Munich, Germany. Cycling and photography are my favorite things.

Nice photos! The Late Afternoon ride, and the garage doors especially.

Went out this morning for a short ride, Wind Chill temp in the teens, after 2 miles it was back home!

Thanks, Rich! That you go out in those temperatures at all I find amazing.

I love the snow pics. We got our first bit of the white stuff today. I didn’t get a chance to get out since we spent most of the day driving to and from my son’s house for a holiday visit. Hopefully tomorrow.

Seems we got our first snow on the same day as you did… globalization! But I hope we don’t get as much snow as you get in Vermont in the winter.
