Within a Stone’s Throw

I don’t see many rocks or stones around here, at least none that look interesting enough to take a picture of. But on my ride along the Würm and not far from home, these rocks caught my eye. Since I don’t have a variety of different rocks, I compensated by taking pictures of the same rocks from different points of view. I imagine they were placed there to stablize the bank of the Würm. But were they found in the nearby surroundings? I don’t know but it would seem logical.

By the way, I am amazed an impressed by the variety of rocks everyone is posting, not to mention the educational and entertaining comments!

I'm a US born ex-pat, having lived most of my adult life in Munich, Germany. Cycling and photography are my favorite things.

    Nice trail too ;’-).

Like you, I feel so fortunate to have found this site with this group of entertaining and educational cyclists. The somewhat small group of us makes it nice as we get to ‘know’ each other, and always look forward to seeing a post from each other as ‘friends’. NIce job Scott (and Bill).

    Beautiful place for a ride!

Here we have a great variety of rocks moved in by the ice sheets, I assume the more northern parts of Germany would too.

The Ries Impact Crater in western Bavaria has an outstanding assemblage of different rock material produced as a meteor struck existing rock.

Those are such beautiful and serene scenes… so peaceful looking. It doesn’t even really look all that cold even though it’s the depths of winter.

We’ve been having temps around +2 to +4, and if there is sun it’s fine for riding.
