World Bicycle Day 2020

Sorry, “World Bicycle Day” was yesterday, June 3! I missed posting and also didn’t give a heads-up for the rest of you. But I did ride my bike. It was a sunny day, so of course we were out on our bikes. The beer gardens have now opened and it was the perfect opportunity for us to go to Forst Kasten, one of our faves. In keeping with Corona restrictions, you had to register before entering the beer garden and wear your mask until you were seated at the designated table. But actually, once we had our food and BEER it felt almost normal.

I didn’t drink all that beer alone!

We also had perfect weather for a cycle on the day before. We decided to put the bikes on the bike rack and drive about 60 km to the south for a change of scenery. I’m not fond of driving to a spot for a bike ride, but sometimes it is worth the effort. We were treated to some wonderful Bavarian countryside with views to the mountains.

Orchids! Dactylorhiza majalis or western marsch orchid
Old time hay stacks – part of an exhibition, otherwise nowhere to be seen any more

It almost felt like being on the road again.

I'm a US born ex-pat, having lived most of my adult life in Munich, Germany. Cycling and photography are my favorite things.

Sorry Suzanne, but I don’t see anybody else in the picture. Without further evidence, I’m going to have to give you full credit for downing what looks like a half-gallon of beer.

Ah, yes! One of the things I remember most about Germany. The beer mugs are bigger than your head. 😉

And pretty strong compared to what we are used to?

I think it has about 1% more alcohol than the typical American beer, about 5.2%.

Sooooo, ok, someone was with you, Greg’s premise is still in force. 😉

    That photo IS rather incriminating.

I love the pic of Janos riding up through the green fields. Late spring/early summer is looking beautiful!
