A B-icycle C D E

Blinky on a Carrier Rack

None of the following are submitted for the ABCDE challenge — just got to wondering how many bicycle parts begin with those letters

What has been found so far — probably more

Chain Stay
Cone … Not visible: axle and bearings
Angles – Lots of angles produced by bicycle parts
Crank, Chain Rings, Chain Guard and Dust Cap
Derailer* aka Changer back in the day           …..       *Sheldon Brown’s spelling
Bar, Brakes, Accessories, and Cables
Allen bolt
Down tube. cable. cable stop
Center pull brake and brake block plus, acorn nut
Bottom bracket, clamp. axle, adjustable cup, Allen bolt
Derailer, cable, and cable stop

No doubt I’ve missed a few!

Very much enjoy all the entries you all have provided -- great to see the everyday cycling venues. Being in eastern Illinois, scenery certainly isn't our forte, but oh well, the roads are normally quiet. Look forward to more and more entries from all of you, I do have a few over on BL -- in Bill's Day Rides, and one journal.

Fantastic, Rich! That’s a downright E-ncyclopedia! I’m not very good at identifying parts of the bike, but for some reason b-owden c-ables stuck. I’m sure your bike has those, too.

Yes, the Bowen Cable was arguably invented by Sir Frank Bowden of Raleigh bicycles in 1902 — or maybe,
Irishman Ernest Monnington Bowden, or maybe, George Frederick Larkin (a motorcycle guy).

One thing is certain, nobody knows for sure, and damn few care. 🙂

As you noted, your post was a day early. But it might have been disqualified from the challenge anyway because it contained too much bicycle mechanic nerdery. Still, it was fun to look at.

As Greg so nicely put it — fun to look at these nerdy mechanics of a bike 🙄
