A little more ABC’s

We are having mild weather. For my ride on Tuesday it was 9C/48F! No sun though, more on the brink of rain. We did our Hausen-Oberbrunn-Unterbrunn loop for the umpteenth time, always hoping to spot something new for a picture or two. Today I realized we could ride by a quarry I have never bothered to take a picture of, but since it starts with that letter Q, I now had good reason.

There is a b-arrier at the e-ntrance of the q-uarry, but you can still see the c-onveyer b-elt and the piles of s-and and gravel.
Another shot of the q-uarry, really an e-yesore in the c-ountryside.

We ride a low hill with little traffic between Hausen and Oberbrunn and have a view over the fields.

A-griculture: Much of the countryside is green and not brown due to the c-over c-rops planted for the winter.

On the way to Unterbrunn we pass a little pilgrimage chapel, St. Laurentius. We have ridden this way often and also photographed the chapel often, summer and winter, spring and fall.

C-hapel of St. Laurentius and b-ench

Not much farther down the road is Unterbrunn. Today we decided to stop and see if the church had any photo op’s to offer. I took a couple of pictures of the war memorial chapel there.

Next to the c-hurch is this war memorial c-hapel with its little s-teeple.
Getting closer, you can see C-hrist on the c-ross, another cross to the right with a helmet next to it, and a C-hristmas tree with d-ecorations. The fresco at the top shows a s-oldier praying at a grave. The chapel is dedicated to those who lost their lives at war.
I pushed my bike up these few s-teps for the S. Janos is waiting patiently.

Those little chapels sure are cute, especially the Chapel of St. Laurentius. What a curious shape. What a curious location!

Quarries aren’t all bad. No gravel, no roads and out local quarries are now used foe abseiling on the cliffs.

Is the quarry some sort of glacial deposit of sand and gravel? — the entrance exposure resembles closely what we have here.
Really like the onion dome on the chapel.

I’m not much of a geologist, but I believe this is terminal moraine here so that gravel is would be glacial deposit, right?
