A local stroll

Often I go for walks around my neighbourhood and so I thought I’d make a few little videos of two different routes to the township of Kalamunda (which means ‘home in the forest’ in the local aboriginal language of the Noongar people)

WARNING: The videos below may contain opinionated whining from an old, grumpy man with a bad accent.

I live in the hills just east of the city of Perth, Western Australia and I've loved cycling all my life, From riding to primary school when I was 8 years old to cycle touring as a grumpy old man. Cycling is freedom on two wheels and I love getting on my bike at any opportunity.

Happy to be here, although I do miss the beach in summer.

The thing I liked most about your first video, besides your accent, was the people in the background agreeing with your narration somewhere around the 2:00 mark.

Glad you could understand me. That spot was where 13 American servicemen died when the plane crashed into the hill, worst plane accident in the city’s history.

My favorite part of the second video was when you called out to the kangaroo and it completely ignored you, but some dogs in the background started barking.

Looks like a beautiful place to live. And it’s interesting to see the signs of early fall as we deal with late spring/early summer heat waves here in the US.

Wet and cold here now (nothing like your winters). Froze my fingers riding down the hill to work this morning.
