We had a few afternoons that got slightly above freezing this week. As a result, some of our snow melted and the roadsides were getting pretty dirty from cars spewing sand, mud and exhaust fumes. Eight inches of new snow over the last couple of days cured that situation.
Not only did the new snow clean up the dirty snow, it also decorated the trees and just about everything else around MY town. Once the snowplows came through, I was able to head out on my bike for a few pictures. Most of them just show the pretty whiteness, but I’ll start with a photo to fulfill the Christmas challenge.
Santa and his flying reindeer. I’m pretty sure this guy made the whole display himself. This photo was taken from my own front yard. On the right edge, you can see how nicely I shoveled my driveway.
Hi. My name is Greg and I ride my bike a lot. That is to say, I ride my bike almost every day. I go on long rides and short rides. Sunny rides, cloudy rides, and rainy rides. I like commuting, errand-running, day-tripping, overnighting, and touring on my bike. I ride on city streets, highways, gravel, single track, and snow with equal enthusiasm. Sometimes I ride fast and sometimes I ride slow. I try to keep my feet on the pedals at stop lights and I do not dismount when I hop up on a curb. I have a roadie bike, a mountain bike and a touring bike. I try to accept any challenge a bike ride can throw at me without complaint. But I don't like bugs.

Good thing you like the snow season! For me, a day or two of the white beauty and softened sounds is plenty. And I do appreciate it. This month the snow we have had has been at very freezing temps that kept ice and heavy frost around for longer than we like!
Your photos are beautiful. Do stay safe Greg.
Sorry about your icy snow. I have seen heavy, less icy, snowfalls in the Pacific Northwest. The way the snow decorates the tall pine trees is quite spectacular.
In the past, the “superlative work” in my driveway has only been in my own mind. Now, in the past two days, I’ve gotten compliments from you and my neighbor across the street. He said his wife asked him, “why can’t you get the driveway as clear as Greg does?” I thought that was pretty funny.
I can remember two or three Christmases without snow. Around here, they call it a “Brown Christmas.” In Perth, you probably just call it “Normal Christmas.”

A winter wonderland!
Good work on the reindeer and sleigh photo — someone is creative!
Superlative work clearing your driveway.

Some beautiful winter shots. And by the way, wanna come over and help with the wet, heavy stuff in my driveway right now?
I’ll think about it, Bob, and get back to you sometime in the next couple months.
What the heck is all that weird white stuff???
Hey Bill —- what’s all this I’m reading about in the PD about some guy on a Surly Ogre joining a sideshow in SW Santa Rosa Saturday night?? 🙂
That’s a lot of snow. Enjoy!
I wonder if you ever miss out on the snow during Christmas, happens to me every year.
