ABCDE

37 degrees this morning felt colder than the 34 degrees on Yesterday’s ride. I know that is because of the dampness from last night’s rain. In spite of warm gloves and hand warmers, my hands, and my feet, were getting a bit cold at halfway through the ride. In this cold, two hours seems to be my limit before getting uncomfortable in the cold air. There are two other things I can add to help my hands and feet, and I will do that on tomorrow’s ride.

My battery operated insole heaters will go into my warmer shoes, and an extra hand warmer will be added to my mittens. That will help a lot and I will render my sandals to the shoe shelf for warmer weather. I have been wearing wool knee socks with water proof socks over them and my feet have done well until these temps have befallen us.

I rode in the other direction from my ride yesterday and was fortunate to find some finds ;’-).

Arrow

Bike & Chair

Circle

Chimney

Chair (& Duck)

Ducks

Docks

Elves (or as Scott would say — Cute Double Elves 😉

As time goes on I will be finding less in items and will be more particular of those I do find. One chimney for example, is enough unless there is something so different, I cannot pass it up ;’-). There are other things that might be of more interest even if duplicated but different.

An aside — as I started down the gravel path to the lake (Serene Lake) I saw three young men standing around talking near the water’s edge. As I got a little closer there was the unmistakable sweet aroma that emanates from marijuana. They stayed only a few minutes after I got there and when I turned around after my photos, they were gone and walking away in the distance. I guess I disturbed their reverie. 😏😉

I think we could use a photo of you in your winter regalia. You sound like you’re layered like an Inuit.

I am indeed layered! A photo would not show much though as I have up to the minute gear which means thin and light weight, but effective against ‘some’ cold!! That would all be underneath and no see-able.

That seems to be my limit in these colder temps. BUT — not nearly as cold as Greg bikes in! Today however, we might be at 40 degrees for the start of my mid-morning ride ;’-).

No doubt, there is a plethora of phenomenal photographic possibilities you discover!

The chimney is super cool, hope you find more.

Thanks, I will be keeping my eyes peeled on the days the weather lets me ride ;’-).

You are intrepid to stay out so long! I don’t last longer than an hour. For my feet’s sake I’m not going to prolong it. Your insole heaters sound interesting, but then I am afraid my shoes would be too tight. Tight shoes also means cold feet for me. Nice finds! p.s. I just did a bit of googling and found some shoe warmers that sound good, very thin. I think I am going to try them!

I do have good cold weather gear that I have honed over the years. My “winter bike shoes” are a bit larger so that I can fit the insoles and thick socks, or two layers of socks if needed. I love riding year round so have accumulated what I need to do so. Even then, two hours is about it for cold winter riding. Snow and ice will bring me to a halt though. As will heavy fog or heavy rain. 🙄

I bet you were disappointed that those pot smokers didn’t offer you a hit. Well, maybe next time. (LOL)

It was a little disappointing. But — mustn’t drug and ride.

It sounds like you have great cold weather gear, upgraded since you gave us a fashion show many moons ago.

On the other hand, I hear Greg is still riding in Bermuda shorts and tattered Vikings t-shirts, although apparently he takes the precaution of coating his entire body in vaseline if the temp drops below zero F. 😉

That Greg is the intrepid one ;’-).
