An equinoctial letdown

It’s hard to feel let down on the first day of spring, but here we are.  It’s all the fault of Rich-Illinois – if he didn’t make such a big thing about seeing your shadow on the equinox, I wouldn’t have minded that it was overcast today in Moab for probably the first time in a week.  The sun did poke through for a few minutes and cast some feeble shadows, but they were too indistinct to merit attention.  The best I could come up with was some faint shadows from the leaves of a yucca.  Major disappointment.

Still, we did our best to salvage the day with a fine hike up Mill Creek Ridge.  And, thanks to Greg’s inspiration, I paid more attention to how colorful playgrounds can be so at least the post can qualify for the Kodachrome challenge.  It could qualify for a musical challenge too, if that ever became a theme.

This is just a placeholder for now. I’ll add a real description when I get more time.

I am a BAD influence! Hangs head in shame, 🙂
We just got lucky with clear weather — clouds, wind, and rain for days previous.

I may have to change to Rich-State 1818, since, you know, Illinois (and a zillion others) are no longer PC.

Looks like a nice hike and good to see you enjoying your musical side – worth the extra miles on the knees.

I really liked the lilac & periwinkle color scheme on that playground. I liked your musical performance even more, especially at the end when the percussive effects of the percussion instrument made the camera vibrate. The rocks and canyons were OK too.

Equinoctial? I have to admit that I thought you reached into my old bag of tricks and made up your own word. Then when I typed your word just now, there wasn’t a little red squiggly line under it. I guess it IS a real word — either that or spell-check just THINKS its a real word.

My favorite part of the video was the vibration of the camera at the end too, and something I hadn’t anticipated. I’m glad it didn’t shake the camera off to an untimely death. And yes, equinoctial is a real word, and new to me also. I found it by looking up ‘equinox adjective’.

Oh, and thanks for the inspiration!

I don’t think you should spend any time waiting by the mailbox for your invite to the New York Philharmonic Orchestra.

Unkind! You’re obviously not one of those sophisticates that understands modern music. Just a southern rube.
