And The Rain Headed East

Today was supposed to be the Vaya’s turn for a ride but as you can see, it’s huddled inside sadly looking out the garage door. You might possibly remember a photo that Rich posted yesterday that looked remarkably similar to the one above. That’s because Rich was nice enough to send his weather our way. Thanks Rich!

To get a better sense of the weather here today, check out this brief video.

One of the interesting aspects of living in the northeast is that we almost always get a preview of our upcoming weather. Since most weather systems move west to east, the weather that we see happening in the midwest is usually the weather we get in the next day or two. Alternatively, we get to deal with nor’easters. In that case we usually get to watch the weather proceed up the coast, and speculate exactly when all that moisture is going to change from rain to snow as the temperature drops.

Shortly after I shot that video, the skies really opened up; enough to make my wife ask if we had perhaps moved the house into a carwash. The rain is supposed to end later today, but unfortunately not before dark. I try to avoid riding at night these days, so looks like today is a ‘no ride’ kind of day.

Like you, I’ve always believed that all a weather forecaster has to do is look at the weather to the west and “predict” that’s what will be coming our way. Sure enough, that’s what almost always happens.

Yup, although I wonder if Storm-Chaser Greg agrees with that!

Apologies for the weather, I tried to turn it away from VT, I really did!

Just posted another garage door photo — hope this doesn’t become too common!

Nice bike stand by the way!

I agree, I’m going to try to not make it a habit! As to the stand, thanks. I wish I could say I thought of the design myself, but it was something I found online. Pretty elegant. Can be make with one 8 foot 2×4, a dozen wood screws, and a little measuring and cutting.

The bike said “let’s go” and you said “no”.

    I’m so poor I don’t have a garage.

Funny the weather goes West to east here too.

Cold and clear, ok. Rainy but warm, also ok. Cold and rainy, not so ok.

I know, I’m spoiled with a garage. Pretty nice to have around here in winter though.

Better to have that much precipitation as rain rather than snow?

By the way, I have a very similar homemade bike stand. Easy, functional, and convenient.

I guess if it was snow, I’d be out snowshoeing right now.

Yes, the stand is handy, especially when I’m too lazy to hang the bike back up on the hooks on the wall when I finish a ride. That seems to happen pretty often.
