Annadel Chill

The bitter, bone-freezing chill of Hastings, Minnesota settled upon our fair California county this week. When the temperature never climbs above 55° F (which is about 13° C), how can anyone possibly survive outdoors, let alone ride a bike? It seems like frostbite lurks around every corner, and a cold, frozen death remains a constant fear. Hey, I’ve read “To Build a Fire” by local guy Jack London. It doesn’t end well.

They call me Old Grumble-Face. I have no idea why they do that....

Great photo, Bill! Nice atmospheric shot, good use of B&W. I sure wish someone would install a rating function on this website, don’t you?

Scott, ratings would be be nice. Mostly, however, I wish I could afford to purchase color film for my camera. 😉

Hi Bill. 13°C or less and a wind to bring in the chill factor – why wasn’t it snowing?! Rides like yours are teeth gritting while doing but provide great picture material (which you used) and are even better to think about when back at the fire writing up the blog. At least that’s what I think.

It’s nearly Spring – better weather soon?

Tony, you’re right. I think I conquered the worst winter weather imaginable. To Greg I say, “Ha! Minnesota snow and cold weather are nothing! I rode Annadel when the temp was all the way down to an unbearable 55°!” I’m the King of the Polar Vortex!

Okay, maybe not really. Please don’t make me buy a real winter coat.
