Chalk Hill

We decided to try another hike-and-bike expedition today. We drove up to Shiloh Ranch Regional Park. My ace support pulled on her boots to hike the park. I saddled up the Ogre to pedal Chalk Hill Road. Back in two hours, we agreed.

Man, Bernie Sanders seems to be EVERYWHERE lately. In an inauguration that was graced by J-Lo, Lady Gaga, Garth Brooks, Amanda Gorman, and all but one of the living former presidents, it’s amazing that the most significant internet star turned out to be Bernie. It was nice to see that he even turned up on your bike route.
I must say, that’s a lot of wineries in the Chalk Hill/Alexander Valley area. A wine-tasting tour there could make a bike rider very tipsy. It might make the rider think he’s seeing TRIPLE or QUADRUPLE rainbows.
I, for one, am glad you’re back with a new post. Much too long since the last one.
Yep, Bernie does get around! Every time I think I’ve seen the best picture of him in an unusual setting, another one pops up. He’s the 2021 version of “Kilroy was here.”
Long time no see. Glad to see you’re still hiking and biking.
Always good to see Bernie, setting a good example on how to keep warm regardless.
Best double rainbow. A good omen I’d say!
Thanks, Suzanne. I’ve been biking quite a bit, but due to Covid restrictions in California (for example, all campgrounds — including in national parks — are closed, and motels only supposed to be accepting guests deemed to be undertaking “essential travel”) my riding has been close to home, very repetitive, and not too exciting. I didn’t want to subject everyone to a thousand identical rides out the Greenway! 😉
That rainbow shot is incredible. Nearly as great as the Bernie sighting. You wouldn’t think he’d need those mittens down there, and that the rainbow would crack a grin on his face.
Wish I’d been on the Ogre when the double rainbow appeared. It’s hard enough to get a photo of bike and rainbow, let alone bike and double rainbow. And in this case for some reason the rainbows seemed to strictly define regions of the sky with very distinct appearances.
So glad Bernie could join you ??.
He just sat there and didn’t say a word.
Looks like a great ride. And as others have Said, great to see a post from you.
Thanks for sending Bernie our way!
Nice place to hike/bike!
Did you offer Bernie some of the great white wines grown on the silica rich volcanic soil?
It’s a sad fact that with a few exceptions all winery tasting rooms are supposed to be closed due to pandemic restrictions. Poor Bernie!
Glad you haven,t become a Covid statistic. I was wondering why all these pictures of the old sitting man where appearing everywhere.
I’ve been pretty darn punctilious about obeying Covid restrictions. Unfortunately, even in my advanced age group it could be months before I can get a jab of vaccine. Too many ancient relics like myself, and not enough doses.
Same here, no idea when we will get our shots.
So nice to see you back ;’-). What a rainbow!!
Because I didn’t run for cover, I ended up getting a bit of a soaking, but I thought the photo might be worth it.
Great photos! Glad you were able to get on your bike and that your wife got a hike with in. You should have included a picture of her!
Thanks. She appears occasionally (see, for example, http://bike365.org/bike/20210114/ ) but mostly she prefers to avoid the camera.
