Challenge Czar Makes Early Announcement

[MY Town, Minnesota] Czar Greg held a rare press conference this morning regarding his much-anticipated January Cycle365 Challenge. It was his earliest announcement since he was elected (forced) into the position back in June.

In his opening remarks, he acknowledged all of the issues facing the world at this time–extreme political divisiveness, supply chain problems, inflation, homelessness, the Omicron variant, the Britney Spears situation, etc. Then, in his usual eloquence, he offered hope to the world.

“To heck with all that stuff! As we approach the holiday season, I want to bring the world back together. The new year offers us new hopes of peace and love and understanding. In that spirit of unity, I proudly announce my most ambitious monthly challenge yet.”

“Throughout the first 16 days of December I have struggled, with great personal anguish, to come up with an idea for the New Year’s challenge. Finally, an inspiration came to me out of nowhere . . . CHIMNEYS! I came up with it on my own. Nobody else helped me with the idea–not even Nancy.”

“I even surprised myself with the symbolism. I mean, let us burn the troubles of 2021 to ashes, sending the putrid smoke out the chimney of our collective hell.”

“But that’s not all folks. Just in case the chimney idea (which, again, I came up with on my own with no help from Nancy or Rich or anybody else) can’t be sustained for the entire month, I’m going to add a couple of letters from the alphabet. Unfortunately for those of you who have already been planning your F-G-H-I-J photos, well, forget about them. The letters will be announced on New Year’s Eve.”

The Czar held his press conference beneath one of the tallest chimneys in town.

When the Czar opened things up to the press, he took the first question from the Fox News correspondent.

“Looking beyond the socialist agenda of your challenge, what are you gonna do about the tracking chips the government is putting in Covid vaccinations?”

“We are going to magnetize the tracking devices so coins and keys stick to your body,” Czar Greg replied.

“Okay,” responded the correspondent, “Fox Nation has no response to that until we hear from our leader, President Trump.”

YOU are so creative and thoughtful. I look forward to our next step in the challenge this for this month ;’-0. I must say though, I would have to guess that G2 was of help for the idea ;’-).

    Chimneys it is!!!

Chimneys? I hope, kind Czar, you will accept smokestacks and chimbleys.

By the way, speaking of alphabetical challenges (were we?), does anyone else remember reading Philip Roth’s “Great American Novel” which included, among other characters, Boss Efghi and Boss Stuvwxyz? No bikes, as far as I recall, but otherwise I think Roth nailed the alphabetical challenge.

      Were those guys from Chicago?

And then there was the lawsuit against Campbells from someone who thought they included an inappropriate message in their soup bowl . . . .

Smokestacks and chimbleys are acceptable. Chim Chiminees and Chim Chim Cherees are not.

I never read “Great American Novel” but I like those names.

Not that I’ve been on my bike lately, but I think chimneys is a great idea. If you can’t think of one for mid-February or March, may I suggest “Anything on a ride in Florida”? Did I hear you say that won’t get many votes because it is too specific? Violette, Skunker Doodle, and I will vote for it, so that’s three!

Skunker Doodle would be an “A”nimal, which would be a “C”at which would qualify for this months challenge. πŸ™‚
Plus, photos of said entry would be very much “A”ppreciated!

I will give some thought to the “anything in Florida” idea, especially since there are already three votes FOR it and zero AGAINST it.

Good challenge! I’m sure chimneys will provide lots of room for everyone’s creative interpretation of the theme, as always. A humble suggestion, oh Czar – Maybe we could start with some new letters this month? ABCDE are wearing kind of thin in my neighborhood and we still have another two weeks.

Yes, maybe I should authorize a couple new letters for the 2nd half of the month. Let’s go with “S” and “Q”. Good luck trying to find those letters anywhere.
