Chimneys and Consonants + H

What a fabulous first day of the year! It was 14C/57C and the sun was shining. What a feeling! I even saw someone in cycling in shorts but wasn’t fast enough with the camera to get a picture of shorts, shins and thighs.Of course, later in the afternoon the temperature dropped and as the shadows lengthened, it did feel cool.

It was so enjoyable being out that we dallied, taking lots of pictures and couldn’t even finish the planned route but had to take a shortcut home. The route, by the way, was excellent. I recently claimed there is nothing new to ride around here, but I was wrong. Looking for a route that avoids dirt paths and roads with too much traffic, I got us on some completely new roads that we will certainly ride again.

Let’s start with the chimneys. These are my token chimneys and I won’t post any more until I find something different or unusual. We have enough chimneys here but there aren’t very many different styles. They all look more or less the same. I took all three pictures from our driveway using a zoom lens.

A shed in the fields with some farm machinery which I think is a tedder.
Everyone was out for a walk and many stopped to admire the pigs, as did this mother and child.
I’m sure I have posted pictures of this chainsaw chair before. It is slowly deteriorating.
Here is the photographer Janos taking pictures of these ‘shrooms. I have also posted pictures of this dead tree with fungi before.
Is it a thoroughbred do you think?
A bus shelter to protect you from the elements on a cold or wet day.
I hope I’m not getting too close to the scatological with these cheeks, seen on a house with dozens of strange sculptures in wood. At some time or other I have posted pictures of them.
Some more cheeks from the same house.
There will probably be many opportunities to get a picture of a chair, but I thought this one unusual out in the middle of the pasture. It looks like there is a book on the seat, perhaps a favorite spot of some philosopher to read and contemplate.

I'm a US born ex-pat, having lived most of my adult life in Munich, Germany. Cycling and photography are my favorite things.

Nice ensemble of photos! And not too CHeeky either 😉
The platforms on the roofs there to stand on while de-icing the chimneys?

Beware of the road apples deposited by the Thoroughbred horse — nasty work removing that material from your tire tread — very nasty!

I think the platform is for the chimney sweep when he comes to test the emissions.

What a great way to start off the year! Great that the two of you were able to get out together. And you’re right, that’s certainl6 an interesting chair.

Holy mackerel, 57-degrees! I probably won’t see that until at least March. That is one impressive horse.
