CLC #1 Let’s Try This Again

So, it seems it’s been way to long since I tried to post. I tried yesterday and just became frustrated and said “oh, to heck” with it. Well that’s the edited version.  My problem and frustration is around adding photos. I do what I assume is the logical procedure and it didn’t seem to be the correct one at all. Lost my post…it can’t be this difficult I know it must just be my tired old brain.

Yesterday I was able to get out between rain storms. We have had rain (which we need) off and on for a week. I saw a window and headed out on Little Bessie…she was very excited to be out. I’m still not seeing how to add photos. I select add media, then it goes to some sort of photo gallery with others photos but I don’t see it here in my post.

So, I ride 10miles had a nice time and now I’m done. Was finally able to get one photo to load now how do you add more? I think it might be because I’m using an iPad?! I seem to be losing menu options on the screen. Ok…..I’m on my laptop let’s see what happens.

We mow our sand here in Monterey…

There you go! Problem solved – but is it? I travel with my iPad but I will worry about that another day. I traveled on down the trail to the next stop.

Craftsmen working on net repair.

I travel past the crew working on repairing fishing nets. It’s amazing to watch them work when they do this. I would think there are not to many left with this skill as I always see the same guys working. That’s even when it’s months in between.

New Paint Job

As you can see Duck Lady painted her house boat. Nice new aqua blue color. Didn’t see her out and about today. We did have great skies though.

Girls playing on bicycle rack at the aquarium.

The aquarium was busy at the covered picnic patio but these girls found a way to use up the rest of their energy. This is where I turn right onto Cannery Row and head back towards home.

Cannery Row

There were not many folks out and about walking but it looks like the trash is out and ready. Just up the street about half a mile is the last empty lot and last cannery ruins. I hear that it is going to finally be developed – I will miss the old open view! This is the area where Doc Ricketts studied his frogs. Years ago you could still hear some around but no more. I did hear some on a bike ride in Pebble Beach near Spanish Bay a week or two ago…that was pretty cool.

No Frogs

Just on up the street near Little Bessie’s home of origin – remember she is a rescue bike from a bike rental. I found these just waiting for some happy kids.

Someone will be happy!

Nice plants. Non native though maybe in Australia.

The Convention Center is finished. Looks pretty nice.

I stopped to make my purchase the Wharf Market Place. Yesterday was their last day in business. It was packed and folks are pretty upset they are closing. Me included as you know I loved to shop here.

Went out of Wharf 2 after purchase and found a Mom and pup otter lunching on a big crab! Sorry only had my phone so the zoom not great but they were fun to watch.

While I was watching the otters I looked over at the Marina Wall and what I “don’t” see is what is important. See the dark line along the water? Up until about three-four years ago that water line would be covered with beautiful Sea Stars of all colors. Purple, salmon, gray and yellow. But the last few years Sea Stars have disappeared along the California coast because of Sea Star Wasting Disease. I have seen a few lately in low tide so I’m hoping they are finding their way back to good health.

The Coast Guard have been in this spot for a couple of days. Jack thinks they were watching a stray boat anchored out.

Nice old van on the home stretch.

Well I’m glad I figured out that my brain can do this……..was getting a little worried. Until next time.

Happy Trails…….

Janet here of Jack and Janet in Seaside, CA. We just love to ride our bikes and share and read stories from other such afflicted souls.

Thanks for the feedback, Janet. I’m leaving shortly, but I’ll describe what I do tomorrow. I’ll also do some research to see if there’s a way to protect your input – I’ve had that happen also, bu not since I got a method down.

I think it’s the iPad. When loading a photo I didn’t see any of the options on the right side. I could see the comment field but not the “insert in post” it just wasn’t there. I’ll keep trying now that I know what to look for maybe I can make it happen.

Great to see you out on the bike and sorry one of your favourite shops is closing! It’s nice to see some pics of the bay and coastal ambiance… I’m not sure when I was last at a wharf or on a beach! I hope the sea stars are on the march back – my Kermit was sad to hear about the frogs. Em

I think those flowers are Proteas from South Africa. I’m trying to work out how to post too, I’m hopeless with computers.

    Happy pedalling

    Hey Janet,

Oh noooo! The Wharf Market is gone! I’m going to miss it too. It was great to stop when riding the trail. And I think I’ll have to do a ride with you down there so I can see the updated convention center and that whole area.

Oh, that will be fun. I’ll be in Kansas (Again) April 3-10 but Jack will be here if that happens to be a good week for you. And we were thinking of getting up your way and go out with you?!
Hope we can figure something out…maybe Bill could meet us and we could do a Bay Lands Ride. Until then enjoy the rain!!
