The spirit is willing … but the flesh is weak

I’ve planned such lovely rides. I’ve pondered oh so many clever titles for the journal. I even have a theme. But perhaps things won’t go as planned. To start with I am just recovering from a bad case of bronchitis. But eventually I expect I will stop coughing, no? So let’s call that a minor obstacle.
During the winter I have had some other health issues. Still, I am hoping very much that I’ll be feeling well enough for not too ambitious rides – and what do I have an e-bike for anyway. I don’t mean to be secretive about what’s wrong, making alllusions but not saying what’s up. On the other hand, I don’t want to go on and on about old fogey health problems. For those who are interested, atrial fibrillation is the issue and it seems to be the cause for the shortness of breath that I have been experiencing since last November. Otherwise I feel fine, no pains or anything. I just have to go slow, even on an e-bike.
So what was my first ride? No, I’m not going to count it as a ride, it’s just my first cycling for a while. And it happens to be the beginning of the challenge. I rode my bike to the German Heart Center, the Deutsches Herzzentrum, and returned the monitor recording a three-day ECG. How exciting. I’ll keep you posted when there are results.
For the challenge I have planned to show you some of the areas surrounding Munich. So as not to waste all my km’s on the ride out of town and back, I will use the Munich public transportation system called the S-Bahn or city trains and cycle from one line to another, train to train, and eventually if all goes well I will have circled around Munich in seven rides.
If all goes well. I have no idea if I will complete or even start on this theme. Will I be feeling well enough tomorrow to take advantage of the good weather that has been predicted? After weeks of really cold weather, -14°C/7°F, we are expecting temperatures to reach an unbelievable 15°C/59°F!
