CLC Ride 5 – Heathen Heaven

I became an Australian citizen well over a decade ago. Back then, there was no written citizenship test, as there is today. At some stage in the application process, I had to rock up to a post office at an appointed time where some poor postal service staff member read me a paragraph and then asked me a series of questions about my rights and responsibilities as an Australian citizen. “You are aware you must register to vote.” Yes. And so on. I don’t remember if there was a question that said, “And you are aware that you must go camping each Easter weekend?” But there might as well have been.
See what the crew got up to for the Easter long weekend at the link below:

Great ride description and pictures, Em! Yes, it’s really hard to grasp the distances in Australia. Here in Europe everything is so close together. Loved your video!!! And the header picture.
Hope you don’t have too much post-ride fatigue.
Suzanne
Thanks, Suzanne. I think everywhere in the world (almost) has its own unique charms and beauty. The space and distance in Oz is one of those – but I would very much enjoy visiting Europe and indulging in those landscapes and the immense cultural experiences. Hope you are on your way to another ‘segment’ soon. Em
It seems that only NSW really has a issue with rail-trails. hope they can move into the future.
Yes, it’s absurd, isn’t it?! It doesn’t help that they literally have to pass an Act of Parliament to officially close a rail line in this state. The rail line I showed you that closed in 1952 didn’t officially close until 1966. And the one going through Humula hasn’t had passengers or freight since 1974 but is not officially closed yet.
Fellow heathen dearest,
What a nice time in the bush on the Easter weekend. Well done. The video was fabulous; we were chuckling throughout. Hope those rail trails come to fruition. They’ll help the farmers more than they know.

Thanks Kathleen. My mom said, “you looked really practiced scaling that fence, is it something you do often?” Haha! In real time, it definitely looked like more of a struggle. What will a cyclist do to escape the automobile people! Em
HI Em,
Glad to see you are taking it easy. Lovely ride. I’ll second Kathleen on the video.
Cheers,
Keith
Thanks, Keith.
