CLC Ride #6 – LA LA Land – Off To The Movies

Have you watched season one of “Big Little Lies”? You may recall that it was filmed here in Monterey and that Jack was cut from several scenes. Well, season two is being fillmed now so we thought we would see what all the excitement is about around town. In the original book the story took place in Australia however they decided to use Monterey for the film version. The stars are Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Meryl Streep is an added star this year.

This set is at Lovers Point – it’s supposed to be a coffee house.

Monterey and surrounding Pacific Grove, Carmel, Pebble Beach, Pt Lobos and Big Sur have a long history of movie making. We even have a Tour Bus that will take you on a tour of many of the filming sights.

WOW – TMI !!!

Reese and Nicole filming yesterday. I got this online as they would not let us get close at all today.

The Wind was STRONG today and didn’t make for great riding. I did get in 13.5 mi and I did some shopping at TJ’s, so it was official.

Here I am after shopping and heading out Wharf 2 to the bathroom.

Pit Stop – Little Bessie is about to tip over from her load.

I’ve been wanting to get photos of some of our local bikers to share with you. Today I was able to get one, David. He is the nicest guy always has a smile and a “Aloha” with a big high five. The other is “Dancing George” we have three George’s so we gave them each a name. There is T-Shirt George, he never wears anything but a short sleeve t-shirt, and his pants! Then there is Bird Man George who has parrots and other birds that he takes to events so children can enjoy them. But today Jack was able to get Dancing George. He never rides with his hands on the handlebars- they are always waving around and dancing along to his music. He is amazing to watch weave in and out of the crowds on the trail!!

David…he was watching the moving filming also.

Here he comes!!

There he goes! He is fast too…..amazing to me!

Well “That’s All Folks”

Janet here of Jack and Janet in Seaside, CA. We just love to ride our bikes and share and read stories from other such afflicted souls.

That is an incredible list of films, Janet- I couldn’t believe it when I scrolled down and it just kept going on and on and on. Dancing George is pretty amazing too – it makes me feel anxious looking at his photo.

I thought about leaving it off but then said WTH! Somewhat interesting. We used to get angry every time we saw Dancing George… could he be so reckless (when it’s crowded)?! But then we got to know him and he is a really nice retired old guy with amazing “core control”.

I had the same reaction as Scott did: I expected to see maybe 10 movie titles, not such a long list. Minneapolis-St. Paul has been the setting for a few movies, most notably “Fargo,” but I think our biggest claim to fame is “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.” Sometime I’ll have to post a picture of the Mary Tyler Moore statue in downtown Minneapolis.

I was a little shy on reportable Info so went with the list😂😂 I would love to see Mary…always a fav! That is if it ever stops snowing. I heard from a friend of mine today on FB you might get another foot! What is up with that?!

    Hi Janet,

“Jack was cut from several scenes”

Did I miss something? Was Jack a TV star long before my unsuccessful career as a male model? What was Jack doing in that show?

I knew I should have asked for his autograph when we went out to dinner.

HaHa…he might have been a star only in his own mind! Last season he was right next to Nicole a couple of times on his bike passing through scenes…..we looked hard for him in the final cut but nope NO Jack. He still thinks they could have used a “gentlemen” biker in there.

Wow – that was a really long list! Looks like you had a beautiful day, though. Your pics are wonderful, as always.
