CLC18-F: Biking my age in miles (3rd ed.)

Old Bicycle Life followers might recall that I started an annual challenge to myself two years back to bike my age in miles on or after my birthday (Where’s the challenge in that, some might ask? Just you wait, Alchemyrider and Tempocyclist!). I’m a few months late, but the first day of spring seemed like a good time to land the routine.

This is just a placeholder for now. I’ll add a real description when I get more time.

    Well done!

    And as always, lovely photos.

A group I used to cycle with had a “Ride your Age in kilometres per hour” challenge on birthdays. Needless to say, there was no chance without the assistance of gravity on a descent.

I like the thought of riding your age much more.

The “Ride your Age” day was one out of the box weatherwise – what great pictures it allowed. A belated Happy Birthday to you. I am finding 71 a good age but hadn’t realised I have been in my Prime! I moved on to look at your post re plans. Fingers crossed that the cash buy happens freeing you take off on those Bike Fridays.

Thanks, Tony. I’d forgotten you were as ancient as myself. Rachael and I have been pretty foreword-thinking, and have a three year plan in mind. Our current plan calls for us to be in Australia on my 73rd, and Tasmania at the end of the year. Maybe we can hook up and celebrate our primacy together!

Unfortunately, it’s not all smooth sailing on the home sale front. We’ve just discovered that we have some significant window damage that will need to be addressed before we can sell the condo, so we’re looking at a renovation project of some sort. It won’t keep us in Portland though – we’re leaving for Greece at the end of April no matter what’s happening with the condo.

Beautiful ride! And congrats on getting in your Ride Your Age ride. I loved the cherry blossoms and jonquils – such a contrast to all the brown here right now. It’s nice to have a Sauvie Island to escape to and feel like you’ve left the city and its people behind. Em

Thanks, Em. It was a great ride alright, and worth waiting for. I’m glad now that I didn’t try to force it into one of our cold, wet days in December. I’m thinking I might permanently (or as long as I keep this up, anyway) reschedule this event for spring instead.
