CLC2018, Ride 7: Home Opener with Bud

I bicycled from the Golden Gate Bridge to McCovey Cove for the home opener of the Giants in 2016 and again in 2017, the first time solo and the second time with Jeff and Bud. No tickets to the game. Just for the fun of pedaling down the waterfront and hanging out by the stadium in the middle of the happy, chaotic, opening day crowd. Time to do it all over again for the 2018 baseball season.

My son and daughter-in law were at the game today!! Did you see them?! Loved the shirts and the orange bike in the parade! And I only use my iPhone in my journals (of late) but glad you found a new camera!!
Hi Janet,
I think your son and daughter-in-law must have been hanging with Jeff, and we never found any of them. The place really is a riot on opening day.
By the way, I stole your Easter Parade idea for my photos at the McCovey Cove bike parking.
Looking forward to what you produce with the new camera!
Hi Suzanne,
Every time I take a crappy picture — which is all the time — I say to myself, “Gee, I’d be a famous photographer if I had a better camera!” π
Suzanne would have been in Bicycle Badge heaven if she was at the Bike Parade.
I am also looking forward to seeing pics from the new camera.
Bill dearest,
Well done. Yes, it’s unfortunate our Boys in Orange and Black weren’t very successful on Opening Day, but they more than made up for it the next day, no? Thanks for the bike parade. The individuality of even a mass-produced object is amazing.

Great pic in front of the bridge! It’s one of the many places on my “must visit” list! Can you cycle across the bridge?
Yes, you can definitely bike across the Golden Gate Bridge. I’ve done it quite a few times.
I wrote this specifically about the GGB, including info, photos, and one minor crash: http://bicyclelife.topicwise.com/doc/ggb2015
And here’s my more general article about all the major bridges in the San Francisco Bay Area: http://bicyclelife.topicwise.com/doc/bridges
I think the GGB should be on everyone’s “must visit” list.
Hi Bill,
Riding to the ballpark for opening day! How cool is that? I didn’t know that they named a cove after Willie McCovey, but that is definitely cool, too. And the t-shirt? Waaaaay cool. I’m jealous.
Cheers,
Keith
Hi Keith,
Not as cool as being able to bicycle in the land of croissants, vin, and fromage every day, but as a longstanding Giants fan (almost 60 years), I’m really glad my location and my retirement enable me to pedal to the party at McCovey Cove on opening day, even if I never have a ticket.
PS: Bud and I went out with our wives to dinner and a play last night, but we were careful not to wear identical shirts. π
