COLD HANDS/WARM HANDS

This is for Suzanne. We bought and had these hand covers delivered just a day ago, and I am yet to try them out (I have said here ad nauseam how icy our roads are) so cannot tell you very much yet. These are made especially for flat handlebars which are what I have.

I am not particularly and OHIO fan, but the choices were black or these red ones. You know me — I went for the RED 😉. Not only do I like red a lot, I think they show up better and so I ignore the OHIO part. They were quite inexpensive at $19.99 ;’-). I hope they work, but if not, it will not be a very big loss.

Pogies! That’s what I’ve always heard those called, but I’ve never used them. Scarcely necessary around here, but they look like they would be perfect for cold weather riding. Let us know how they work for you.

Yes, they are pogies — also use pogies for kayaking. These particular ones are made specifically for straight bars. Most are for drop bars as I understand it. When I saw these I thought they are worth a try. I will definitely let you all know what i think of them once I can get on my bike again🤨.

Thank you, Nancy! They look great! I’d have to do some adjusting on my handlebars, like removing the mirror and moving the phone mount. I imagine your mirror is attached to your helmet. Is it going to be a bit of a fumble to change gears since you can’t see what you’re doing in there? So curious to hear how they work out. Sorry you are having such impossible weather. So frustrating.
I just found a different hand solution – I’ll dedicate a post to it.

I have the same questions about the gears. I will let you know how I do with that — if I can ever ride my bike again!!!!!! I can easily read my gear indicator as it is not covered by the sleeves, but am not sure about the touch to change gears when needed. My mirror is on my helmet so that is not an issue for me, I am not sure how you will manage that. As you see, my phone bracket is fine where it is, but the pogies each have 2 pockets (one on topside, one on bottom side) on each that work for a phone.and any other item you need to put there.

As I put my hand into them in the cold garage, the fleece feels warm and comfy with plenty of room to move my hands around. I am sure I will also need to wear some kind of glove for the cold, but mostly a thinner one than I now use.

Review will come whenever —- you know—-

Perhaps you could find some cold weather resistant red paint to cover up that Ohio State stuff. Better yet, maybe repaint the pogies in their entirety with the maroon and gold of the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

      Well, there’s a thought 🙄.
