Cycle Life Challenge Ride 3: To a Beer Garden

Sunny and WARM, really warm. I left my gloves at home, my fleece cap for under my helmet, my down jacket, and just rode as-is. What a feeling! We took up our custom from last year and packed a small picnic lunch for a beer garden visit. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m sure, but I’ll repeat myself, you can bring your own food to beer gardens as long as you buy your beverage there. I love this tradition. Today we rode to the Taxisgarten, a nice ride involving no traffic and through the Olympic Park.

Not many people here yet, but by the time we left the garden had filled. So nice to see everyone enjoying the day.

What we ate and drank

Taxisgarten, established 1982; on our way home

That was it for today.

I'm a US born ex-pat, having lived most of my adult life in Munich, Germany. I have three kids and eight grandchildren - so I'm pretty old. Cycling, photography and walking are my favorite things.

So what – you don’t post any rides for two weeks, and then two at once?

I love the labeled picture. It reminds me of a meal we had in a Japanese inn. The hostess hand drew a map of the meal for us to identify each of the our tiny offerings. It’s one of my favorite souvenirs.

You better watch out, Scott, or I’ll do two triples on one day, and add a post equinox and presolstice cum bicycle to boot!

Great its warming up for you, here too compared to what its been.
Lunch looks delicious — that is a good sized pretzel!
And radishes! There is a variety from Russia (Salad Rose) that is really really good I like to grow.

You ate raw radishes,,,seriously? I did enjoy the beer, sauerkraut und worst in my brief visit to Munchen many years ago.

Do you cook your radishes Down Under? Here we like radishes with bread and butter, raw. Goes well with beer. Besides you gotta get your veggies.

Yay! Beer garden season! I so loved living vicariously through you on your trips last year. I love the idea of it and the sense of community that would be involved. Gather together, bring some food, drink some beer in a pleasant setting 🙂

I don’t know what those Western Australians do with radishes, but I have never seen them cooked in Oz. I’ve never seen people just eat them either – they are always just an ingredient in a salad… as far as I’ve come across them anyway!

Radishes are good for other people, We’ve decided. Also loved the meal map. Will have to steal that one.
