Damp Ride to Finish the Year.

Despite the heavy rain this morning I had to go out to keep the streak going.

The owner of this property just outside the village dammed this stream up to create the pond in the photo below.

The pond covers quite an area.

This is the outlet from the pond, yet another unnamed stream.

Though I got somewhat wet still a lovely trip to finish the year off.

Happy New Year to all.

Happy you kept your string of rides going.
The pond is an interesting feature — I like the little dam.

I guess one might say that was a ‘dam’ good ride despite the rain. 🙂

The Dawes is lookin’ good! Happy cycling 2023!

Thanks, it was a bit wet.
The only original parts left on the Dawes are the frame, stem, seat post and saddle, its been an expensive way to get a really nice bike.

Looks to me like “damp” is an understatement. It seems strange for someone to build his own personal dam on a stream, but the resulting pond is very pretty.

Greg, nothing wrong with a bit of understating.
The current dam is Mark 2, Mark 1 was removed and a mechanical digger used to excavate the stream bed for deeper footings. Assume the owner underestimated the weight of water behind the dam.

England looks a bit soggy, at least you had a nice summer from what I’ve heard. All the best for 2023

Lednar, good to hear from you, hope you and yours have a great year ahead.
We had some exceptionally hot weather (for us) during the summer.
Haven’t experienced heat like that since I lived in Melbourne some 58 years ago.
