Day #2 of 75 – Just a short one
Today’s mission was to visit our allotments and cut the grass paths.
Due to the recent hot weather and the more recent rains the grass had got somewhat out of hand, the photo only show around a quarter of the area we use. Took around two and a half, time well spent.
Journey – solo
Bike – Tifosi Classico
Distance – 6 miles

That’s a very nice garden! I would love to have something like that myself! One day, one day….
Thanks Emily, we rent the plot for the equivalent of $26 AUS a year, we have been in possession for eight years now. There are around 70 plots on the site, the land is provided by the local town council with a little funding. There are three such sites in Abingdon.
Dave
I can taste the corn!!
Nice to see I’m not the only one doing short rides!
I never knew the name for “allotments” in English. Here in Germany the so-called schrebergarten are very common, a place for city dwellers to do some gardening and outdoor relaxing. Those here are usually smaller than what you have, though. Sort of the size of what you showed in your picture.
Hi Suzanne, short ride out necessity, the grass cutting took priority.
Abingdon has a population of around 36,000 and has three allotment sites.
Their popularity changes quite a bit over the years, you can be on a waiting list for ages waiting for one to become available or get one almost straight away.
A question if I may, is it acceptable to have more than one photo with each posting?
Dave
Hi Dave, nice garden!
How is the sweet corn doing?
At one time our town was a good sized sweet corn canning center in Illinois.
(as far a I know, post as many photos as you like — more is always better đŸ™‚ )
Sweet corn coming on nicely thanks, soon to netted to deter the magpies.
More than one photo it is then.
Google tells me Munich has over 100 allotments, and about 11,000 renters of the plots. They are indeed popular!
And as Rich wrote – post as many pictures as you wish and the more the better.
That is a lot of sites and plot holders.
Thanks Suzanne, more photo’s it will be, though be warned there maybe a few thatched cottages.
