Desert hazards, continued

This is too funny. It seems like just yesterday (well actually, it was just yesterday) that I was bemoaning the lack of interesting hazards down here and speculated that we might be seeing rattlers or Gila monsters roaming the earth soon. Be careful what you wish for, as we found on our ride to Colossal Cave.

Holy crap that’s a big snake.
Hmmm . . . . Looks like Scott came across “Lefty”.
Wish our snakes came with rattles to warn you, I’ve almost stepped on a few.
Wish our snakes were so few in number, or rarely seen, that we’d all stop to “help” them. Over here, anything you might see can kill you pretty quickly, so everyone would just give it a wide berth dead or alive. Nobody would stop!
It’s early in the season, and the novelty hasn’t warn off yet. Probably when it heats up, the place is crawling with snakes and everyone’s short tempered from the heat they’ll start beating them with sticks. Or probably just shooting them – this is Arizona, after all.
