Elephant Rocks with Jeff

Santa Rosa has been incredibly lucky. Despite all the wildfires raging in northern California, the prevailing winds have prevented smoke from drifting our way. That was expected to change today, with temperature into the 90s, smoke, and unhealthy air quality in the forecast.

What to do? Jeff and I headed for the coast….

I really liked all of your pictures. Quite spectacular. But none of those huge rocks actually looked like elephants to me. What’s up with that? Did you apologize to Jeff for making him climb all those rocks with you? He shouldn’t have been subjected to that kind of punishment — unless he is like me.

Yeah, I don’t know why they’re called Elephant Rocks when they are clearly Dinosaur Rocks.

As to Jeff, don’t forget when his wife ordered him to stay out of the tree and hire a pruning service, he climbed into the tree anyway and promptly fell out.

Nice ride with Jeff, and cooler too, we could some cool right now.
Enjoyed the photos, hope SR stays safe this fire season.

Thanks, Rich. We’ve been lucky so far, but it will be many hot, dry weeks before the rainy season arrives, assuming it rains at all.

Looks like a beautiful ride, and luck with the weather and buddy who will climb rocks with you. Fine pictures, as well. Btw, did you have a colleague named Jerry Robinson, taught algebra? I think he also taught in SR. Jerry is my brother-in-law.

You would think two old retired guys would be able to ride together more, especially with wives trying to get us out of their hair, but it often seems difficult to coordinate these expeditions.

Hmmm. Not sure I remember anyone named Jerry Robinson. At SRJC? Math was one of the departments with which I didn’t have a great deal of contact.

Wow, you always manage to find great rides with great scenery.

Thanks, Bob. Not to underrate any other part of the globe, but we’re fortunate to have so much scenery in this area and so many decent cycling routes for enjoying it. I’ve become too old, feeble, and skittish for some of the best rides around here.
