Empty or Not Empty…

Empty or not empty, that is the question. No, the question is how legitimate is it to sneak in non-empty pictures. But to be a hair-splitter, you might say empty of empty is empty. Anyway, I have some pictures to post.

I’d say this is an empty path. I didn’t venture any further, probably no one else did either. I think trees were being felled.
A hunters hide – empty
Another hide – empty and derelict
Empty trails in the woods – not many bikers out in the cooler weather
Empty watering cans at the cemetery in Hausen
An empty chair – chainsaw art in the forest
Is a blank stare an empty stare?
Janos is looking for edible mushrooms and found enough for lunch . But he didn’t take any pictures – returned home and his camera memory card was still empty.
I met a gentleman on one of my rides who told me exactly where I could find blooming gentian. Empty promises, I didn’t find a single one. But I got a sunburst and lots of lens flare.
An unexpected blossom in November – what’s empty here? I don’t know.
A ride on a rainy day that I expected to be empty of interest – what a delight to see the Alps lit up on the horizon.
We didn’t get on this single track intentionally – empty of purpose. We had already gone too far to turn back so I pushed over and around roots, stones and mud.
Nothing empty here at all – just thought I would post a picture of Janos again.

It just now occurred to me that I didn’t have to go to such great semantic lengths to justify posting all these pictures. Our official challenge for the month is “just ride” and that is what I have been doing.

I really like the chainsaw-carved chair on the stump. Nice picture of Janos on the bike too.

We have discovered a number of chainsaw pieces on our rides – this one was a new one for me. The chair is one piece with the tree stump.

Yeah, but I like your “take” on empty as much as I like your ‘just ride’ ;’’-). Very creative Suzanne.

Lots of really interesting things around you — empty watering cans come to mind, the carved tree chair, and those ‘hunter hides’ are all rather ummmm ….. great ;’-).

There are so many of those hides around. I was informed that it is necessary to reduce the number of deer and wild pigs because they eat young tender trees and have a detrimental effect on the forest.

A fine batch of empties, emptiness justifications, and non-empties. The empty/blank stares are wonderful.

Thanks, Greg! Those cows are certainly good at staring, while sheep usually just turn around and show me their backside.

No idea what a blooming gentian is, but that is one great photo with the colors and sunburst.
I agree with the Ride to Ride, if some emptiness shows up, so much the better.
The forest floor with the fallen leaves is a beautiful sight.

I am sure you have googled gentian by now, but if not it is a rare and protected flower. Most varieties are found in the mountains, a few in our parts.

Your photos are certainly not empty of beauty. I love seeing the season progress there through your pictures.
