It looked as though Portland was going to escape winter completely this year, until yesterday. We got a light dusting of snow in the night – just enough to brush back the early bloomers. I rode my bike to the coffee shop, mostly just so I could take a photo of Rodriguez braving the great blizzard of 2018.
That didn’t amount to anything, and the day turned dry and cold. Today was forecast to be much the same, and Rachael and I went to bed last night planning to bundle up and get out for a ride this morning before our first PIFF film showing (PIFF is the international film festival).
The forecast was wrong. We woke up this morning to new snow, and a forecast for it to continue all day and through the night. Busses are chaining up, schools are announcing closures. Amazing – it’s almost March, and winter finally blows in the door.
