Ghosts and Toadstools

Halloween isn’t a big thing here. I thought I’d be lucky if I found a few Jack-o-lanterns, pumpkins yes, but not carved ones. Lo and behold on my way to Munich on a road that I seldom ride, I came across a house with Halloween decorations out front.

Pretty good for Germany
I think I see some Christmas decorations mixed in.

To make up for the lack of the Halloween festivities here, I thought some scary poisonous toadstools might be in the spirit of the season. This has been an unusual year for fungi, I have never seen so many in the forests. Actually, I don’t think they are spooky at all, I love discovering the many varieties and photographing them.

I have a Halloween colored windbreaker!

I'm a US born ex-pat, having lived most of my adult life in Munich, Germany. Cycling and photography are my favorite things.

As I have noted in a previous reply to you, I could easily do without Halloween!
Your toadstools are beautiful and I love them all.

My cycling outings will be a bit limited over these next couple of weeks due to the rain and wind coming up. I will of course look for windows of opportunity ;;’-).

Keeping my fingers crossed that you find lots of windows with no rain for your outings!

    Great photos!
Some excellent pumpkins and a good find on the Halloween decorations.
The fungus photos are great — lots of different kinds and colors.
Back in the mid Ordovician Period when I was in school fungi were considered ‘non-green’ plants — now they have their own Kingdom.

Ordovician Period – had to look it up. 🙂 If you were in school in the mid-Ordovician Period, I guess I was in school in the early Ordovician Period. Anyway, glad fungi have their own kingdom.

Amazing variety of mushrooms, and none of them look familiar to me. I guess I don’t pay enough attention to them when I’m in the woods.

Fungi, the third lifeform after animals and plants. Some scientists think they came from asteriods, just be carefully which ones you eat. Not much Halloween here too
