I’d like to go moraine surfing
So I did 🙂
Nice morning, a little chilly, a light breeze from the south
Up the backslope and down the fore slope and reverse
South on 1550E to 3800N and pretty much ascend the backslope of the Ellis Moraine from the North Fork valley southward
That is another moraine running thru town
Here we are . . . High Atop the moraine
Having climbed an incredible 70 feet or so from the NF valley 😉
View back north
1550 meets 3800
View west on 3800
Topographically, moraines do not photograph well at all
That is a moraine crest in the background
View west — in the distance, the valley of the North Fork
RR right of way cuts thru a moraine crest
Ballast quarried in North Carolina
Back north down the moraine
Doesn’t look like it, but 20 -25 mph or more is possible
7 or 8 for me — I wanna enjoy the view for a while
Did I enjoy the surfing?
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaah I did!

I am very glad for you to be able to ride! I attempted to ride to the bank yesterday but once on the road I came upon some icy areas so just went around my block to return home. 1 (that’s one) mile for the day!
Today is only slightly better but rain and wind keep me off my bike yet again. As I look at our forecast it seems I will be riding on Su, M, T, W in dry, partly sunny days, and then we shall see what comes!
It was nice to get out a little farther for a change.
Agreed, taking risks with icy roads just isn’t worth it.
Rain, wind, snow, forecast for Friday. 🙁
It has to get better at some point.
Them’s some mighty mountains!
That pale blue winter sky looks familiar, but better than grey and rain!
