January Challenge Day 18

I was already resigned to no more rides this month, I even finished my website monthly ride page and published it two days ahead of time. Today I revised it. The sky brightened and when the temperature went up to +3C/37F, I grabbed my camera and went for a last ride in January. My camera motivates me to ride and my bicycle motivates me to take pictures, a happy marriage.

I have one loop with a few variations that I can count on to be cleared of snow. But today, seeing that the temperature was above freezing, I thought I would check some other routes I often take to see if the snow had melted there yet.

This is the road that takes me to the path along the Würm. I stopped here.
A ride up this hill would take me out of the Würm valley. Too much snow for me. I turned around.
Another path I like to ride – when there is no snow.
This didn’t look too promising either. I made an about face and headed home.

I think we need some rain to wash that snow away. But I had fun riding around. A few degrees warmer and a brighter sky make a big difference.

I'm a US born ex-pat, having lived most of my adult life in Munich, Germany. Cycling and photography are my favorite things.

Discretion is the better part of valor — I would have reversed too!
The leaden skies look very familiar — they are promising more sun and warmer temperatures in the next few days — hope thats right!
The sun is getting stronger and the days longer, so that is encouraging.

Very evocative pics. They make me want to find snow to photograph. Maybe I’ll run into some this summer.

Taking pictures of snow is very rewarding, more so than cycling in it.
