Last Ride of 2021

So, I’ve been a bit absent from the challenge so far this month. I had made the decision at the beginning of the month to cut back on cycling for December, and get in more time walking, hiking and just a tiny bit of trail running. I rode only nine days this month, and on those rides I just didn’t quite feel like pulling off my gloves in the cold to take photos. So, those are my excuses.

But, I couldn’t resist getting in one last minute post. On my ride today, I stopped in the parking lot of the Windham County Humane Society. You can see their sign and giant dog house in the feature photo. The Humane Society is of course an Animal Shelter, and you can see on top of that dog house a Dog, a Cat and a Bird.

The Humane Society does some great work, and is where we got the king of our household, Oscar the cat.

Happy New Year everybody! Onward we go to 2022.

Not a bad idea to get in more walking and hiking. I’m afraid I prefer frozen fingers and toes, though. The walking would probably be better for me.

    Happy New Year!

    Great Photo!
Its obvious from their sign they care greatly about the shelter animals — and even greater you got Oscar there.
Our Maxwell is also a rescue kitty.

Years ago on the Cats Page, there was a thread titled: Real Men Love Cats 🙂 and dogs too, of course, even the occasional hamster or gerbil, etc etc.

Now all we need is a photo of Oscar (hint hint)

    Happy New Year!!

I think it’s good to mix up the riding with walking and hiking. They use muscles differently, and I find walking stretches my back out in ways cycling does not. Well done on the alphabet challenge – excellent to get so many letters in one shot!

Good for you Bob — great photo. As others say — walking is a good thing! I try to think (try to think) that I will do more walking but cycling always wins out. So — will try to think again this year about at least some short neighborhood walks. Nice to see your photos and stories here.

Also, within the dog’s body is a Bone. That’s a cool sculpture.
