LEAVING BAD WEATHER FOR NOT SO GOOD WEATHER, PLUS POOR WIFI

This post has little to nothing to with any bike riding, but I wanted to check in to let you know I have not disappeared off the earth ;’-). First here is a photo of our drive to visit family in “sunny” California.

About two hours to our final destination…

To be fair — we were crossing a pass — maybe Siskyus Pass? I am not sure of the spelling nor the location as we did not have a map of the state. But — it snowed a LOT here.

That was yesterday afternoon and once over the pass, no more snow. This morning as we looked out our bedroom window, we could have been back home except that back home the sun is out for much of this week, and here — right now — it is grey and raining ?.

If it happens to clear by the time the Grands are done with online school around noon, the plan is that they will take us on a bike ride to the donut shop! So I will post about that should it happen.

I say ‘post’, but my wifi is not the best at the moment as I must use my hotspot when everyone here is working or schooling online (5 others using their wifi is near overload as it is). You all are an important part of my bike life, so I must stay in touch with everyone. ?.

Assuming you took the freeway south the whole way, that’s the Siskiyou Summit, the pass crossing into California south of Ashland. Scary pass in bad weather. Enjoy your snow break from the snow! I think that front must be coming our way. Snow is coming to southern Utah tonight. We might be getting a look at Zion under snow soon.

Thanks for keeping us posted, Nancy! I hope you got a donut ride! I’m sure you will have fun with the grands.

The Minnesota WINTER part of me says that picture of from the mountain pass was beautiful. The Minnesota SPRING part of me says that picture was dismal. I hope to not see something like that for at least six months. (But I probably will.)

Almost 70F here yesterday, today much cooler and 40+ wind gusts.
Im with Greg, enough snow for this season.
Good donut shopping and hoping the sun returns soon.

Hope you got the donut run and the weather cooperates for a great visit.

Taking the junky weather with you reminds me of a song by Crowded House, a New Zealand band. “Wherever you go, always take the weather with you.”

Thanks for all your replies — I love them ?. Em, I cannot access the video as it says “uploaded has not made this video available in your country”.
We do have some sun now, but forecast is for deteriorating weather over the several days past tomorrow. We will do what we will do and be just fine.
There is an update on my blog through yesterday.
