LIGHT THE WAY

There are lots of ‘ways’ to light: driveways, walkways, roadways, pathways, doorways… you get it. On this morning’s ride I focused basically on driveways, but a couple of others may have sneaked in.

My 7:30 a.m. start brought the quietude of the morning with only the birds tweeting and singing at me, reminding me to get out early more often to enjoy the mornings. Within about 45 minutes the world (my world anyway — my neighborhood) began to awaken with activities — get the newspaper from the driveway, walk the dog, start the car for the trip to work. Still it was not terribly busy where I rode and I enjoyed the entire ride.

In just one short block of homes, there were all these different light fixtures at the front yard or driveway.

Similar to the first one, but with the light on.

A bit past this first block were a few other photo worthy fixtures.

I could possibly have snatched a few more lights, but the early part of the morning was now gone, the fixtures were becoming similar to others, and I did not feel quite as comfortable stopping in front of each of these homes to take a photo with homeowners now more awake and aware ;’-).

I ended my ride just in time to drive off with Susan to meet the California family who would be visiting for this day and night, and a stop at the Kraken Ice Arena (they are all Kraken fans — Seattle’s Ice Hockey Team) for them to do some open public skate time on the ice.

A full day with a bonus morning bike ride that I was not certain I would get ;’-).

That is a great ensemble of lamps!
It interesting that even in modern times with modern homes, the classic coach light style (if thats what its called) remains in vogue.
Im a little apprehensive about taking photos of people homes etc as well — in fact, a few possible challenge topics were discarded for that very reason.
And a shoot on the fly approach is maybe the best way to do it.

Thanks Rich. I feel much the same when taking some photos, and especially when I am taking one of just about every house in the neighborhood!!!!

I like your collection of lamps. Most of the residential lamps in MY Town are attached to the house itself. There are a couple of examples in the post I just posted minutes ago.

There are some lights on houses here as well, but I think many many have these front yard lights. I am just surprised to see so many different ones in such a short distance.

You live in such a good neighborhood for cute things that are just right for our challenges! A great collection.

That’s a good thing because the bulk of my rides are around and about this little area. When out farther I do keep my eyes peeled though. I am always surprised to find things I am hunting for our challenges in the areas I have biked many times. It’s all about keeping my eyes open ;’-).
