March I’d-Rides

We are almost a week into the month and I haven’t posted a single ride yet. But I have been on the usual short rides, weather permitting, and if it’s just long enough to stretch my legs and breathe some fresh air – and freeze the tip of my fingers and toes. As for the fingers, I’m disappointed that those heated gloves aren’t all that good. One of the batteries dies after about 40 minutes and when in order to prolong the battery life I don’t use the highest setting my fingers get cold. But spring is coming (when?) and I’ll worry about cold fingers next winter. For now my strategy is to just hang on.

I’d love some sun

March 1 – Got some sun

I’d love to take a train south to where it’s warmer.
I’d love to sit in the sun for a picnic.
I’d love to see some green on the trees.

I’d love to ride some different routes

March 2 – Nothing new today, just the tried and true

I’m not tired of taking pictures of this tree yet, different in every season.
Haven’t taken this path for a while, for obvious reasons. Today it was okay to ride, this was the most snow I encountered.
A favorite spot, always good for another shot.
I must admit, winter branches are beautiful.
Another fave that I have photographed frequently, beautiful in the spring with cherry blossoms.
I certainly have dozens of pictures of this tree, placed so photogenically on a hill at the end of a straight road.

I’d prefer to ride my bike

March 3 – And I did. It was pretty darned cold at 8:30 for my ride to Starnberg. I now have a yoga class once a week and could take the train – only five minutes – but prefer to cycle there. Janos then met me after class and we rode home together.

I’d be happy if this part of the ride on a board walk through the marsh were always this empty. That’s why we only ride it in the winter when no one is out.

I’d love a warmer day

March 5 – That was stating the obvious, wasn’t it. Some days I’m less resilient. This was one of them and I was glad to be home after 45 minutes.

I only stopped for one picture. Done this one many times, too, a no-fail photo OP.

I'm a US born ex-pat, having lived most of my adult life in Munich, Germany. Cycling and photography are my favorite things.

Doesn’t matter how many times you take a photo of something, you have great subjects that are always a pleasure to see.
They SAY that Spring is only about 2 weeks away (3/20) but I have this gloom feeling that it will initially not bring Spring-like weather!
I love your photos and seeing your ride paths and routes. I too would love some riding in places different.

    Ditto what Nancy said.
