I googled and discovered, yes, they really are wild. No one feeds them or cares for them. Approximately 150 of them (!!!) roam the area around Hearst Castle, and often hang out on the hillside where I spotted them. In fact, there’s a big area for cars to pull off Highway 1 so tourists can do some zebra spotting.

Such a great area for riding. Good highlights of the ocean, the cycling race, the scarecrows and the zebras. All that on one ride. Spectacular.

My ace support crew loves Cambria. Lots to do, but way more of a small-town feel than busy-busy Monterey and Santa Barbara. I didn’t even visit Hearst Castle or local wineries or cute little shops and galleries, etc. Well, I did slip into one shop and purchase Moonstone earrings to take home, because I always try to return with a trinket for her after a cycling expedition.

Wow! Citizen Kane one day, Wizard of Oz the next. I look forward to the next classic movie you barge in on.
